Is it just me or does it seem like Kona solids are now made from higher quality fabric? This may not be a recent change (I haven't purchased solids for months), but this stack of fabric I just purchased seems softer and less coarse than other solids already in my stash. Has anyone else noticed this as well?
Edit: I also just noticed they're more expensive too. Boo hiss!

I'm not sure, hmm... I still want to know if the Kona at JoAnn's is the same as the Kona I can order. I know JoAnn's stuff can be questionable. And I'm considering stocking up on some Kona Snow, since it seems to be a quilter's staple and white is just so stark.
I have noticed this as well...but I don't know if it's just a 'lot' of colours or what. I do like the softer hand when combining it with other quilting fabric!
Kona solids actually come in several different grades. When I go to one of my favorite discount quilt shops, I can buy Kona in the $3-$4/yd range, or the $4-$5/yd range, or the $5-$6/yd range. There is a difference in quality between the various grades.
Joann does not carry the same quality. A quilting colleague in my quilting group used to work at Joann's, and she states very emphatically that the Joann grade Kona is NOT good quality--the colors are not true, etc.
