Giveaway Day!

Today is the May Giveaway Day sponsored by Sew Mama Sew.  Exciting!

To celebrate, I will be giving away some fat quarters and one of my favorite notions.

First, I have for you five fat quarters from Michelle Engel Benscko's line Shade Garden.  These fabrics are featured in my Shady Zig Zags quilt

Second, you will have a chance to win a Sewline mechanical fabric pencil.  This pencil is awesome!  As I was working on my Christmas quilt I realized the need for a good fabric pencil.  The method I am using to make the flying geese requires markings and I was becoming increasingly frustrated with inexpensive pencils that wouldn't write and fabric markers that disappeared.  So, I decided to splurge and purchase one of the Sewline pencils.  Best decision I could have made!  It marks wonderfully, can be erased, and there are lead refills that you can buy in a variety of different colors

To enter, please leave a comment describing your favorite sewing project.  It can be a quilt, purse, or clothing.  Be as descriptive as possible and leave links if you like!  You have until 11:59pm on Thursday, May 20th to enter!  I will post a winner on Friday morning! Good luck!

Currently my favorite project is refashioning men's shirts. I'm working on my fourth, out of six. It's really fun, especially to do them in a series and make each one different.
You can see my progress on my blog.

Oh, wow! I've been thinking there wasn't any better alternative to the unmarking and fading sewing pens. So glad to hear of this.

My favorite project is a dress I made for my daughter. The fabrics, pattern, and just general overall feel of the dress are adorable and suit her so well.

My favorite sewing project is one currently still in progress. I went to visit my grandma for the first time in years a few weeks ago to have her teach me how to piece quilts. I let her choose all of the fabrics and we chose a pattern together. I'm still working on piecing the quilt top, but the memories this quilt have for me will make it most cherished even if my first shot at quilting has the potential to stink. :)

Thanks for the chance at the giveaway. <3

My favorite sewing project was making a dress for my daughter when she was young. I had her laying on a piece of newspaper to make the pattern. She still thinks thats where patterns come from. She picked the fabric and of course a matching bow for her hair.

I don't know about favorite. Once I finish a quilt, I just love it -- all of them. I do love some overalls I repurposed into dresses for my daughters -- I used Alexander Henry's fairy prints from a number of years ago -- don't remember the exact name. I added ruffles to the bottom and covered the bib, did some applique. Very cute.

Oh wow, this is an amazing giveaway! I am right now working on my favorite project. My mum is really ill, and 2 years ago I had given her stips for a quilt that was already cut ready for her to sew together. She never got around to it, so I asked daddy if I might take it back and make it for her. I have the top made which is a interlocked squares pattern. The double border consists of a burgundy solid fabric of which I plan to hand stitch words of love and encouragement for her to know how much she is loved. The pencil that you are giving away would work wonderfully for this part of the project. Hope I win.

http://www.thehandmadedress.net/MissMadeline6mo-4yrs.htm This is my favorite sewing pattern, it goes together in about an hour, and uses so little fabric. I think my daughter has about 8 of these. Yes, she's a little spoiled :) Thanks for the giveaway!

I think my favorite sewing project was my most recent. It was a buttercup bag by made by rae. It was easy to follow and went together beautifully. I made it out of a fun batik fabric.

I actually blogged about it too...http://megjustsaying.blogspot.com/2010/05/my-creations.html.

My favorite projects are Halloween costumes. This year I made Halloween Princesses in ruffled orange and black skirts and capes and the biggest bluest dinosaur costume that you ever saw.

My favorite sewing project is the slouch purse by Ali Foster (I got the pattern on etsy). I have made about 5 purses and three of them have been from this pattern. It's easy to make and makes up a great purse and you can have fun with the fabric to make it. I've used regular cut fabric and I have made patchwork too - it's fun.

Thanks for having this giveaway!

My favorite sewing project is quilting with lots of white space or solid space so that when the quilt is held up, you can see an overall design.

I think my favorite project was my apron. It's a half apron, with wine corks as the pattern. I LOVE it! I don't have pics up yet, but I probably will later this week at newlywife.com

Thanks so much!

my favorite sew project is a hobo bag that I made. It was the first project that I did using a pattern and I use it to carry my knitting it.

Seeing as how I'm only a novice sewer, my favorite sewing project would be a laptop case that I had found an amazing tutorial for. It was made out cotton fabric, fusable fleece, flannel fabric, a button, some thread and a whole lot of hard work! I love using it at college and my friends love it too!

Sew far, one of my favorite projects was the Christmas pajamas for my boys last year. It wasn't so much the project as it was the response. Their faces just lit up.

Thanks so much for the chance!

I really like designing my own quilt and then making it

My favorite sewing project is pillowcase dresses. I love mix and matching fabrics and ribbons. I made one for my friend's daughter. It was a yellow fabric with flowers and birds. The fabric had bits of pink in the flowers, so I used a pink polka dot for the bottom trim. I used a pink ribbon for the shoulder ties. It was adorable.

I love to make baby shoes.

My favorite sewing project was a pair of baby pants I made from a Lotta Jansdotter pattern. It was a super easy project that honestly took probably a half an hour, and it transformed fabric that I didn't really like, into some pants that I LOVED. They're super cute on the baby and the pattern looks great. A success all around (and total successes are rare for me... :).

Wow, I love that fabric line! My favorite sewing project ever is a quilt I made for my new son. I finished it about 30 hours before I went into labor. Today is his one-month birthday!

My favorite sewing project was my son's quilt. He picked out the fabrics at a quilt shop (all black, gray and orange batiks) by himself and I worked hard to do my first full size quilt in diamonds, and I finished it!!

My favorite isn't perfect, but it's a dress I made to wear to a friend's wedding. It's a sheer linen/silk blend over a rayon lining, and I had to adapt the pattern. The hem is an uneven mess, but it feels great to know I made it!

Right now I am just beginning to quilt, and I love it! I have finished a basic square patchwork and am working up to the chevron quilts I see everywhere. The trickiest part for me so far has been the binding, I hope it becomes easier with practice! Anyhow, what a great giveaway! Thank you for the chance to win!

my favorite project is my first quilt I made for my son before he was born. It was an easy strip/block quilt and it was also my first attempt at free motion quilting/binding/the whole ball of wax. It is far from perfect but I got such a sense of accomplishment out of it, it will always be my favorite. And, he loves to snuggle up with it now so that makes it all worth it. :)

I love sewing aprons and pillows, or anything for my little girl. But my favorite part of sewing is having some of my girlfriends come over after the kids have gone to bed and all of us staying up way too late for stay at home moms and laughing until one in the morning like teenagers. My favorite is a quilt I've been making for about ten years! :) It's a Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt that is entirely hand paper pieced. It's taking me forever but I'm just going slow and using my little tiny scraps and stuff. It's full of memories! Maybe I'll finish it after another 10 year? Hopefully sooner.

My favorite sewing project has been my wedding dress. It was a simple sundress, and my first sewing project in a long time. I lived far from home, and it was a time of bonding for my mom and I because she had to help me over the phone the whole time, since I'm not a seasoned sewer! :-) Thanks for having this giveaway!
