Giveaway Day!

Today is the May Giveaway Day sponsored by Sew Mama Sew.  Exciting!

To celebrate, I will be giving away some fat quarters and one of my favorite notions.

First, I have for you five fat quarters from Michelle Engel Benscko's line Shade Garden.  These fabrics are featured in my Shady Zig Zags quilt

Second, you will have a chance to win a Sewline mechanical fabric pencil.  This pencil is awesome!  As I was working on my Christmas quilt I realized the need for a good fabric pencil.  The method I am using to make the flying geese requires markings and I was becoming increasingly frustrated with inexpensive pencils that wouldn't write and fabric markers that disappeared.  So, I decided to splurge and purchase one of the Sewline pencils.  Best decision I could have made!  It marks wonderfully, can be erased, and there are lead refills that you can buy in a variety of different colors

To enter, please leave a comment describing your favorite sewing project.  It can be a quilt, purse, or clothing.  Be as descriptive as possible and leave links if you like!  You have until 11:59pm on Thursday, May 20th to enter!  I will post a winner on Friday morning! Good luck!

Favorite sewing project is the one I'm completing now for my cousin who passed recently at the age of 36. She has two little girls, so I made an I spy quilt . Most of the squares are wildlife, earth , animal related as she worked for the EPA. The backing is purple butterflies. Has been a slow project because I'm new to quilting and learning and guinea pigging other projects before taking next steps with this quilt. I hope they use the quilts and get them as dirty as possible...with the dirt from the same earth their mom so passionately protected.
Thank you for your generous giveaway. Have been wanting to try the sewline pencil :)

Ooh, I am so excited about this giveaway. I love the fabric, and I know I've just gotta try the fabric pencil. Where did you get it, how much are they?

One of my projects that I'm really proud of is these little baby shoes: http://phesine.blogspot.com/2009/09/soft-baby-saddle-shoes.html I think they turned out really cute. Thanks for having this giveaway!

My favorite sewing project this year was a bunch of really simple shopping bags I made for friends. It wasn't the project so much as the sentiment behind making them. So much fun!

Favorite project? I made 6 or 7 sundresses last summer using the elastic thread in the bobbin technique. LOVED it!

My favorite project is the quilt I just finished for my daughter who is due to be born in 10 days. I used the scrappy starlings tutorial from Oh Fransson! and I absolutely love how it turned out, pluse I really enjoyed all of the peaceful hours I got to spend thinking about snuggling with my little girl!

I have to say that my favorite sewing project was a quilt that I made for myself (the only one I've ever kept) The project started out with a friend at quilt camp teasing that she should be the one to buy the last 6" strip bundle because I'd never do anything wth it. To prove her wrong, I whipped up my top that day! To top it off, I love the quilt. I kept it for myself to cuddle up in on the sofa.

I hand quilted a quilt for a friend once and I think it's my favorite thing I've sewn.

But I really like the satisfaction of quick projects.

I am working on a quilt right now, my first full sized quilt, that my 7 year old son and I designed together. It is a colored pencil quilt and we are having a lot of fun. Thanks for the chance to win.
